Jeep Gladiator Towing Capacity Chart 2026: Every Trim
Every 2026 Jeep Gladiator towing and payload rating from Stellantis, by trim and axle ratio.
The 2026 Jeep Gladiator tows up to 7,700 lb, according to Stellantis. That figure needs the Max Trailer Tow Group on the Sport or Sport S, which brings wide-track axles and a 4.10 axle ratio. Without it, Stellantis lists 6,000 lb for the Sport with the 3.73 axle and the ADH Tow Package. The Willys is also rated at 6,000 lb, the Mojave at 6,000 lb and the Rubicon at 7,000 lb. Every 2026 Gladiator uses the same 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6 (285 hp, 260 lb-ft) and eight-speed automatic, so the differences come from axles, packages and weight, not the engine.
The chart below copies each figure from Stellantis's 2026 Jeep Gladiator specifications and feature availability documents, published with the November 20, 2025 press kit. Where Stellantis's own numbers do not add up, we say so rather than correcting them.

| Trim | Axle ratio | Max trailer (lb) | Payload (lb) | Base weight (lb) | GCWR (lb) |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Sport / Sport S | 3.73 | 6,000 (with ADH Tow Package) | 1,025 | 4,695 | 9,650 |
| Sport / Sport S (Max Trailer Tow Group) | 4.10 | 7,700 | 1,720 | 4,741 | 12,850 |
| Willys | 3.73 | 6,000 | 1,025 | 4,860 | 11,150 |
| Mojave | 4.10 | 6,000 | 1,050 | 5,042 | 11,450 |

Source: Stellantis, 2026 Jeep Gladiator Specifications, Towing Capacities tables. All: 3.6L V-6, 850RE 8-speed automatic, 4x4. GCWR per Stellantis = base weight + max trailer + 150 lb driver.
The maximum trailer weight is the most you can tow with that configuration when properly equipped. It is not a figure you can count on with any load in the truck. Stellantis calculates it from a base weight with a 150 lb driver, so passengers, cargo and accessories all come out of it, as the GCWR column shows.
What the 7,700 lb rating requires
The 7,700 lb rating appears in only one row of Stellantis's specification sheet: the Sport with the 4.10 axle ratio. Stellantis's feature availability document says the Max Trailer Tow Group is optional on the Sport and Sport S and not available on the Willys, Mojave or Rubicon. It describes the group as including:
- a heavy-duty 240-amp alternator
- a Class IV hitch receiver
- heavy-duty cooling
- wide-track axles with a 4.10:1 axle ratio
Jeep's own Gladiator utility page says the 7,700 lb rating is available "on Sport S models." Stellantis's towing table is headed "Gladiator Sport" with a footnote marked "Sport S model," so we read the Sport row as covering both trims. Jeep also says the 7,700 lb figure is the highest gas towing rating in its class, based on J.D. Power's midsize pickup segment.
Ratings by trim
Sport and Sport S. Stellantis gives two rows. With the 3.73 axle, the maximum trailer is 6,000 lb, with a footnote: "If equipped with ADH Tow Package." Stellantis's table does not list a rating for a 3.73 Sport without that package, so we do not give one; ask the dealer or check the window sticker. With the 4.10 axle (the Max Trailer Tow Group), the maximum trailer is 7,700 lb. The Sport and Sport S come standard with a Class II bumper hitch, according to the feature availability document; the Class IV receiver comes as part of a package.
Willys. One row: 3.73 axle, 6,000 lb. The Trailer Tow and AUX Switch Group, with the 240-amp alternator, Class IV receiver, heavy-duty cooling and programmable auxiliary switches, is standard on the Willys.
Mojave. One row: 4.10 axle, 6,000 lb. The Mojave has the 4.10 ratio but is rated lower than the Max Trailer Tow Sport. Its front axle is rated higher (3,300 lb GAWR against 3,100 lb), but it is heavier, with FOX internal-bypass shocks and its own suspension, and Stellantis gives it the lower trailer rating.
Rubicon. One row: 4.10 axle, 7,000 lb. The Rubicon has the Rock-Trac transfer case with a 4:1 low range and the same Trailer Tow and AUX Switch Group as standard.
Payload by trim
Stellantis lists the Sport with the Max Trailer Tow Group (4.10) at 1,720 lb of payload, the highest of any 2026 Gladiator, and Jeep markets 1,720 lb as the maximum 4x4 payload on the Sport S. The 3.73 Sport and the Willys are listed at 1,025 lb, the Mojave at 1,050 lb and the Rubicon at 1,100 lb. Payload is how much weight you can carry in the cab and bed, and when you tow it must also absorb the trailer's tongue weight. Your truck's own payload is printed on the tire and loading information placard on the driver's door jamb.
Where Stellantis's own figures disagree
Stellantis's footnote defines GCWR as "Base Weight + Maximum Trailer Weight + 150 lbs. for driver." For several rows, the published numbers do not add up to the published GCWR:
| Trim / axle | Published GCWR | Base wt + trailer + 150 | Difference |
|---|---|---|---|
| Sport / Sport S 3.73 | 9,650 | 10,845 | -1,195 |
| Sport / Sport S (Max Trailer Tow Group) 4.10 | 12,850 | 12,591 | +259 |
| Willys 3.73 | 11,150 | 11,010 | +140 |
| Mojave 4.10 | 11,450 | 11,192 | +258 |
| Rubicon 4.10 | 12,450 | 12,181 | +269 |
Arithmetic on Stellantis's published figures; no figure has been changed.
We have not corrected any of these figures, because we cannot tell which column is wrong. Two other things stand out:
- Rubicon weight. The towing table gives the Rubicon a base weight of 5,031 lb, while the curb weight section of the same document lists 5,069 lb.
- Sport 3.73 GCWR. The 9,650 lb GCWR on the 3.73 Sport is far lower than the 10,845 lb that the formula gives with a 6,000 lb trailer. One possible reason is that the GCWR applies to the truck without the ADH Tow Package, but Stellantis does not say so. If you are planning to tow near the limit with a 3.73 Sport, confirm the rating for your exact truck.
When the published numbers disagree, use the most conservative one and check the labels on your truck. Our guide to reading the door jamb sticker explains which weight ratings are printed there.
How to find your Gladiator's rating
- Identify the trim. Badges alone can mislead; our guide on how to tell what trim your car is covers other ways to check.
- Find the axle ratio and packages. The original window sticker lists options such as the Max Trailer Tow Group. See how to get the window sticker by VIN.
- Match the row. Use the trim and axle ratio to find the row in the chart above.
- Check the door jamb. The tire and loading placard gives the payload for your truck as built.
- Subtract what you carry. Passengers, cargo and accessories added after the factory all reduce what is left for the trailer.
Hitch, wiring and trailer sway control
According to Stellantis's feature availability document, every 2026 Gladiator has four-pin and seven-pin trailer wiring and trailer sway control as standard. Jeep describes its trailer sway control as sensing when the trailer starts to sway and braking each wheel individually until it is back in line. The Sport and Sport S have a Class II bumper hitch as standard, and the Willys, Mojave and Rubicon have the Class IV receiver as standard. Stellantis includes the Class IV receiver in both the Trailer Tow and AUX Switch Group and the Max Trailer Tow Group. Before towing near the ratings above, check the rating stamped on your hitch; a hitch's own limit applies even if the truck is rated higher.
Your trailer's own ratings matter as much as the truck's. Trailer tires carry their own load range and pressure ratings, which our trailer tire load range chart covers.
Gladiator vs other pickups
Jeep says the Gladiator's 7,700 lb maximum is the highest gas towing rating in its class, based on J.D. Power's midsize pickup segmentation. It is still well below what full-size trucks are rated for. If you are choosing between a midsize pickup and an SUV, our midsize SUV towing capacity chart lists the SUV ratings. For comparison, our Ford F-150 towing capacity chart shows how much the configuration matters on a full-size truck, where the spread between the lowest and highest ratings is far wider than on the Gladiator. Because every Gladiator uses the same engine and transmission, the axle ratio and packages are the main things that change the rating. The same is true of the Gladiator's SUV sibling: our Jeep Wrangler towing capacity chart shows how the axle ratio moves a four-door Rubicon between 3,500 and 5,000 lb.
Specifications that affect towing
Stellantis lists these other figures that matter when towing:
- Engine: 3.6-liter Pentastar V-6, 285 hp and 260 lb-ft, with an 850RE eight-speed automatic.
- Axles: third-generation Dana heavy-duty axles front and rear, in 3.73 or 4.10 ratios.
- Transfer cases: Command-Trac NV241 part-time (2.72:1 low) on Sport, Willys and Mojave; optional Selec-Trac full-time on Mojave; Rock-Trac NV241OR (4:1 low) on Rubicon.
- Bed: 5-ft steel box on all trims.
- Curb weight: 4,695 lb (Sport and Sport S), 4,860 lb (Willys), 5,042 lb (Mojave) and 5,069 lb (Rubicon).
What the columns in the chart mean
Stellantis's towing tables use the same terms as most manufacturers' towing guides:
- Base weight is the truck's weight as Stellantis calculated the rating, without passengers or cargo. It is close to, but not always the same as, the curb weight listed elsewhere in the document.
- Payload is the weight the truck can carry in the cab and bed, including the trailer's tongue weight when towing.
- GAWR (gross axle weight rating) is the most weight each axle can carry. Stellantis lists 3,100 lb front and 3,750 lb rear for every trim except the Mojave, whose front GAWR is 3,300 lb.
- GCWR (gross combination weight rating) is the most the truck, everything in it and the loaded trailer can weigh together.
- Max trailer is the heaviest trailer the configuration is rated to tow, calculated with only a 150 lb driver in the truck.
In practice, you can hit any one of these limits first. A heavy load in the bed can use up the payload or the rear GAWR before the trailer reaches its maximum weight, and a full cab plus a maximum trailer can exceed the GCWR. Weighing the loaded truck and trailer at a certified scale is the only way to know where you stand.
Canadian ratings
Stellantis Canada's 2026 Gladiator announcement gives the same maxima in metric: up to 3,492 kg (7,700 lb) of towing and up to 780 kg (1,720 lb) of payload, with the same 3.6-litre V-6 rated at 285 horsepower and 260 lb-ft. It describes the ground clearance as up to 29.4 cm (11.6 in) and water fording as up to 80.0 cm (31.5 in). Trim availability and packages can differ between markets, so Canadian buyers should check the Canadian build and price tool or a dealer for the configurations sold there.
Off-road capability and towing
Stellantis markets the Gladiator's off-road numbers alongside its towing ratings: a crawl ratio of up to 77:1, four 4x4 systems, an approach angle of 44.7 degrees, a departure angle of 26 degrees, a breakover angle of 20.9 degrees, 11.6 in of ground clearance and up to 31.5 in of water fording. These figures apply to specific trims and are not achieved with a trailer attached. The trims with the most off-road hardware, the Mojave and Rubicon, are not the ones with the highest towing rating, which is a trade-off worth weighing if you plan to do both.
Common mistakes
- Assuming every Gladiator tows 7,700 lb. Only the Sport and Sport S with the Max Trailer Tow Group are rated at 7,700 lb.
- Assuming the Rubicon tows the most. At 7,000 lb, it is rated below the Max Trailer Tow Sport.
- Towing heavy on the bumper hitch. The standard Sport hitch is Class II.
- Forgetting payload. Tongue weight, passengers and cargo come out of the payload, which ranges from 1,025 to 1,720 lb.
- Relying on one number. Stellantis's own figures do not always reconcile, so check your truck's labels.
